Upward Bound

Keep Calm and join Upward Bound

 

The Upward Bound Project is a college preparatory program for high school students who attend targeted high schools (Winterboro, Childersburg, Sylacauga, B.B. Comer, and Fayetteville). The Upward Bound program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

About Upward Bound:

  • The Upward Bound Program has two components, an academic year and a summer component. The summer component provides a six-week schedule of intensive instruction in content and enrichment areas. The academic year operates from September- May. The students meet two Saturdays each month.

The Goal:

  • To increase high school academic performance and motivational levels of selected students so that such students may complete high school and obtain a college degree.

What Services are Provided by Upward Bound?

    • Mentoring and Life Skills

    • Cultural/Academic Field Trips

    • Campus Tours

    • Individual and Group

    • Secondary/Post-Secondary Advisement

    • Financial Literacy

  • Seminars:

    • Study and Test-Taking Skills

    • Self Esteem / Self Confidence

    • Etiquette

    • Financial Literacy

    • Test Preparation
