Pre-apprentice Lineworker Program
Program structured with input from other lineworker programs, the TVPPA Apprentice program along with input from Utilities and Cooperatives within the area.
The vision is for Central Alabama, Wallace, & Calhoun Community Colleges to offer the Alabama Lineworker Pre-Apprentice Course to identify local people who are interested in and capable of performing the duties of a lineworker. This does not replace Lineworker apprentice programs.
The program would be offered regionally based on industry need and demand.
280 contact hours of training, 7 weeks, 40 hours per week
Assessments ... WorkKeys, DiSC, and CAST practice test
Soft Skills ... Work Ethics, Positive Image, Effective Communications, Team Work, Problem Solving, Embracing Change, Resume Writing, and Interviewing
Technical Skills ... Lineworker Fitness, Safety (OSHA 10 hr), CPR/First Aid, Electrical Fundamentals, Ratios & Proportions, AC Theory, Lineworker Tools, Map Reading, Pole Climbing School, Measurements, Line Hardware, CDL Training and Certification, Lineworker Field Observations.

- Class 1 - July 6, 2009
- Class 2 - September 21, 2009
2010 Class Schedule
Class 1 - February 15, 2010
Class 2 - May 10, 2010
Class 3 - August 2, 2010
Class 4 - October 25, 2010
- DOT Physical/Drug Screen and MVR (driving record) required for admission
- All coursework and training will take place at the Talladega Center of Central Alabama Community College
