Central Alabama Community College Announces Dr. Kevin Ammons as New Dean of Students

ALEXANDER CITY, AL — May 7, 2024 — Central Alabama Community College (CACC) is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Kevin Ammons as the new Dean of Students. Dr. Ammons brings over two decades of diverse experience in higher education administration, with expertise in instruction, adult education, admissions, and student services.

Dr. Ammons has a rich academic background, having earned an Associate Degree in General Studies from Enterprise State Junior College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Alabama, a Master of Education degree in History from Troy State University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. His professional journey includes significant leadership roles at Gadsden State Community College, Enterprise State Community College, and most recently, Reid State Technical Community College, where he served as the Executive Director of Student Services.

“Dr. Ammons is a seasoned leader whose extensive experience in student services and commitment to student success make him the perfect choice for Dean of Students at CACC,” said President Jeff Lynn. “His leadership and dedication to higher education are exactly what we need to continue advancing our mission of fostering student success and community engagement.”

Dr. Ammons expressed enthusiasm about his new role: “I am honored to join Central Alabama Community College and contribute to its spirited campus community. I look forward to working with the students, faculty, and administration to enhance our student services and ensure an enriching academic and personal growth environment for all our students.”

As Dean of Students, Dr. Ammons will oversee an expansive range of programs and services that support student success and well-being. His leadership is expected to enhance the college’s strategic initiatives focused on improving student services and expanding academic and personal development opportunities.

Dr. Ammons is also active in numerous higher education leadership programs, further demonstrating his dedication to academic excellence and community service commitments.
