Central Alabama Community College Expands Healthcare Education with New LPN Program at Talladega Campus

TALLADEGA, AL –January 23, 2024– Central Alabama Community College (CACC) is eager to announce the launch of a new standalone Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at its Talladega campus, beginning in the summer of 2024. This initiative is part of CACC’s ongoing commitment to expanding its educational footprint and serving as a community partner in addressing the critical healthcare needs of the region.

President Jeff Lynn shared his excitement about the new program: “The introduction of the LPN program at our Talladega campus is a significant measure in CACC’s efforts to enhance healthcare education in our service area. We recognize the urgent need for skilled nursing professionals, especially in rural communities. This program demonstrates our commitment to ensuring these communities have access to a well-trained and highly-skilled workforce.”

Michael Barnette, Dean of Workforce and Economic Development Programs emphasized the program’s community impact: “At CACC, we understand the crucial role healthcare plays in the well-being and vitality of a community. The new LPN program is designed to meet the growing demand for nursing professionals and contribute positively to our region’s healthcare landscape.”

The new program reflects the college’s dedication to expanding healthcare education and addressing the nursing shortage, particularly in rural areas. Through this program, CACC aims to cultivate a workforce that can effectively respond to the region’s healthcare challenges and contribute to the overall health and prosperity of the community.
