Consistency defined the CACC softball program during a season shaped by preparation, accountability, and steady leadership. That approach was recognized when Greg Shivers was named ACCC Softball Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The Trojans finished the year with a 43–20 overall record and recorded a 34-game win streak. Individual honors followed, with CACC earning both ACCC Player of the Year and ACCC Pitcher of the Year, reflecting the depth and development within the program.
Shivers said the recognition belongs to the athletes who committed to the daily work required to compete at a high level.
“Our players show up ready to work,” Shivers said. “They hold themselves accountable, and they support each other. That consistency is what makes a season like this possible.”
Beyond the record, the program emphasized discipline, teamwork, and preparation. Student-athletes balanced practice schedules, travel, and time in the classroom while representing the College in conference and postseason play.
Athletic Director Jeffrey Daniels said the recognition reflects leadership that extends beyond the field.
“Coach Shivers sets expectations that go beyond wins and losses,” Daniels said. “He develops student-athletes who understand responsibility, leadership, and commitment. That carries over into the classroom and into their lives after CACC.”
For Shivers, the focus remains on maintaining the program’s standards and continuing to develop players who are prepared for what comes next.
“The goal is always growth,” Shivers said. “If our players leave here better prepared for the next step, then we’ve done our job.”
As CACC closes out the year, the softball program’s success stands as one of its defining moments, shaped by leadership, preparation, and a culture built over time.
