CACC Students Join Efforts to Support Tallapoosa County Families

Student organizations at CACC recently joined together to support Tallapoosa County families through a holiday gift card and gift drive benefiting the Department of Human Resources. Members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD), and Trojan Scholars worked together to collect gift cards and donated items for children and families served by DHR.
The joint effort resulted in the most successful gift card drive the College has hosted. Students collected a large number of gift cards, along with toys and gifts intended to help meet needs during the holiday season.
Maribeth Farr, sponsor for PTK and Trojan Scholars, said students were motivated by the opportunity to support families in their own community.
“Our students understood who these gifts were going to and why they mattered,” Farr said. “They took ownership of the project and worked together to make it successful. It was encouraging to see that level of care and commitment.”
Sigma Kappa Delta sponsor Brittany Beatty said the collaboration gave students a chance to work across organizations while focusing on service.
“This drive gave students a practical way to serve while working alongside others who share the same goal,” Beatty said. “They were excited to be part of something that helps local families, and the outcome showed how invested they were.”
Service plays an important role in student life at CACC. Through student organizations, service projects, and campus activities, students are encouraged to take part in efforts that support the communities the College serves. The Tallapoosa County DHR gift card drive provided another opportunity for students to step forward and help meet a real need.
The College thanks PTK, SKD, Trojan Scholars, and all students who contributed to this year’s drive.
