ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. — Central Alabama Community College (CACC) proudly celebrates the achievements of alumnus Tim Garner, whose outstanding leadership as Head Tennis Coach at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville has resulted in national success for both the men's and women's tennis programs.

Garner began his collegiate tennis career at Central Alabama Community College, where he played under the mentorship of then Head Tennis Coach Kathleen Thompson before transferring to Auburn University to complete his bachelor's degree.

This spring, Garner guided the Wallace State men's tennis team to the 2026 NJCAA Division II National Championship, leading the Lions to an outstanding season and the program's first national title since 1996. His team demonstrated exceptional consistency, determination, and competitive excellence throughout the season, culminating in a national championship.

Garner's accomplishments extended beyond the men's program. Under his leadership, Wallace State's women's tennis team also enjoyed a remarkable season, finishing as runner-up at the 2026 NJCAA Division II National Championship. The success of both programs reflects Garner's ability to cultivate a culture of excellence while developing student-athletes capable of competing at the highest level.

"Tim Garner's accomplishments are a tremendous source of pride for Central Alabama Community College," said CACC President Jeff Lynn. "His success is a reflection of his dedication, leadership, and commitment to student-athletes. It also speaks to the lasting impact of the mentorship he received while attending Central Alabama Community College. Coach Kathleen Thompson established a standard of excellence for our tennis program that continues to be reflected in the achievements of alumni like Tim. We are proud to celebrate both his remarkable accomplishments and the legacy of excellence that helped shape his journey."

Garner's achievements exemplify the lasting impact of a Central Alabama Community College education and the enduring influence of exceptional mentors. As one of CACC's distinguished alumni, his success serves as an inspiration to current and future student-athletes, demonstrating how a strong foundation, dedicated coaching, and a commitment to excellence can lead to national recognition.

Central Alabama Community College congratulates Coach Tim Garner on an extraordinary season and wishes him continued success as he continues to elevate Wallace State's tennis program on the national stage.
