Reimagining Campus Spaces for Learning and Student Support

Two major improvements at the Alexander City campus are taking shape and moving toward completion in early 2026: the renovation of the HEA Building theater and the relocation of the campus library.
The theater renovation in the HEA Building is progressing with a focus on creating a flexible, modern venue for campus and community use. When finished, the space will include approximately 315 seats and accommodate concerts, speakers, plays, presentations, and other events. The renovated theater will serve as a central gathering space for academic programming, student performances, and public events.
The library relocation is also progressing, relocating library services to the HEA lobby to create a more central and accessible location for students. As part of this transition, the current library building is being converted to house nursing, chemistry, biology, and other science programs, as well as the math and English departments.
That building will also become home to Student Services, bringing advising, academic support, and key student resources together in one location. Faculty offices are being added on both floors to support instructional needs, while classrooms in the BCG Building are being used to provide additional instructional space during the transition.
President Jeff Lynn said the work is focused on how students experience campus day to day.
“These improvements are designed around students and how they move through campus,” Lynn said. “Bringing learning spaces and support services closer together helps students stay connected and focused as they work toward their goals.”
With both projects moving toward completion in early 2026, the theater renovation and library relocation continue to reshape how students learn, gather, and access support services at the Alexander City campus.
