CACC Head Baseball Coach Larry Thomas to be Inducted into University of Maine Hall of Fame
ALEXANDER CITY, AL – September 25, 2024 – Central Alabama Community College (CACC) is pleased to announce that head baseball coach Larry Thomas will be inducted into the University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, October 4. Thomas, a 1991 graduate, earned All-American honors, North Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year, and All-New England recognition. His 108 strikeouts in 1991 remain the second-highest in program history.
Following his standout collegiate career, Thomas was drafted 69th overall in the second round by the Chicago White Sox and made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 1995. His contributions to the sport reflect his commitment to excellence, a standard he upholds at CACC.
“Coach Thomas’ work ethic is unparalleled, and his positive impact on our college and baseball program has been tremendous,” said Jeff Lynn, President of CACC. “He leads by example, instilling discipline and dedication in his players. We are proud of his continued success and this well-deserved recognition.”
Reflecting on the honor, Thomas stated, “It is an incredible privilege to be inducted into the University of Maine Hall of Fame. The foundation I built at Maine has shaped my career, and I’m deeply thankful for this acknowledgment.”
Since joining CACC, Coach Thomas has been a cornerstone of the baseball program, consistently developing student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. His induction into the Hall of Fame is a testament to his lasting legacy in the sport and his ongoing impact on the CACC community.
