Central Alabama Community College and Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance Host Executive Roundtable to Discuss Workforce Solutions and Business Expansion

ALEXANDER CITY, AL – May 24, 2023 – Central Alabama Community College (CACC) and the Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance (LMAEDA) hosted an executive roundtable yesterday, bringing together key industry leaders to discuss workforce solutions and business expansion in the region.

The roundtable at CACC was a collaborative effort to address the region’s economic development and workforce needs. The event featured a robust discussion on LMAEDA’s business retention and expansion program and CACC’s available workforce solutions.

“We are committed to fostering a strong and vibrant economy in the Lake Martin area,” said Jeff Lynn, President of Central Alabama Community College. “This roundtable is a testament to our dedication to collaborating with local businesses and industry leaders to ensure we provide the workforce solutions they need to thrive.”

Michael Barnette, Dean of the Workforce and Economic Development Program at CACC, emphasized the importance of the event. “Our goal is to create a synergy between education and industry. By understanding the needs of our local businesses, we can tailor our programs to produce a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of our growing economy.”

The roundtable was attended by representatives from several area businesses, including Madix (Mark Cordell & Casey Wiley), Westwater Resources (John Strickland), CES Industries (Scott Adkins), C&J Tech (Jimmy Brock), SL Alabama (Sandra Howell), SPRINTURF (David Jackson), and Fruit of the Loom (Benita Abrams).

Denise Walls, Executive Director of LMAEDA, highlighted the Alliance’s commitment to business growth. “Our business retention and expansion program is designed to support existing businesses while attracting new ones. We are committed to creating a prosperous business environment that benefits everyone in the Lake Martin area.”

The event underscores the commitment of both CACC and LMAEDA to promote economic growth and development in the Lake Martin area. The insights gained from this roundtable will inform future initiatives and strategies to ensure the region’s workforce and businesses continue to prosper.
