Truck Driver Training

The Commercial Truck Driver Training Program is a 6-week non-credit course that gives individuals an approach to understanding and applying practical guidelines to the laws related to driving a commercial truck. Central Alabama Community College’s goal is to provide the knowledge, skills, professionalism and attitude necessary to produce graduates who are prepared for entry-level employment in the Commercial Transportation Industry. The student who successfully completes the course earns a Class A Commercial Driver License.

Program graduates are to be competent in the areas of:

  • Hours of service regulations
  • Vehicle inspection procedures
  • Basic driving techniques
  • Defensive driving techniques
  • Basic backing skills
  • Driver fatigue recognition
  • Recognition of environmental hazards
  • Safe operation practices
  • Advanced operating practices
  • Safety and professionalism

Students applying to the Commercial Truck Driver Training Program must be at least 18 years old.

All students are subject to random alcohol and drug screening during the course of the 6 weeks.
